During my four-week stay at
PISU a lot of tasks were given to us interns. These
are voice recording and transcribing press conferences and media
availabilities; sorting documents; making synopsis and matrix for the news
round up; editing press releases; monitoring news; and clerical works such as
filing documents, photocopying, answering phone calls etc.

One task personally
given to me was to compile all the good news about the Department of Foreign
Affairs for the month of April. This task is a lot of reading, which makes it
time demanding however, it is also helpful for I had the chance to get myself in the know.
The whole internship experience is truly significant. For
four weeks there wasn’t a dull moment or ineffective day. My everyday stay was
productive and helpful.

However, one that I would probably consider that has
been my most significant experience was during every press conference. It is a
big event indeed for it involves a lot of people and therefore a lot of work. I
consider this as most significant for it taught me a lot of things and have me
involved in an exciting and challenging experience. Knowledge wise, because my
stay was during the Scarborough Shoal issue, I was able to grasp a lot of
information about the Philippine position and other terminologies such as
UNCLOS, ITLOS and etc.
Also, in these events I was able to practice and improve
my communications skills because there are a lot of people I am tasked to talk
to and this is something that is very important for my course.

My internship at DFA is truly such a great blessing.
It allowed me to gain useful information and valuable
experience, it helped me realize and improve so many things. It provided me
such a wonderful work experience, with a very accommodating staff and bosses
that patiently taught me important and relevant things which i cannot learn better in other place. With such a professional atmosphere
that welcomed me and my other co-interns, again I would say, I have nothing to
ask for. DFA-PISU is incomparably great for interns.
After all, maybe I should also be grateful to my college specifically my mentors and our Dean. They're the ones who really influenced us to have our OJT in the DFA, and my internship just proved that they're right in telling that DFA is really the best and most appropriate place for us to learn more about our course and for us to apply what we have already learned. I believe it is also right for me to commend my professors for at some point during my internship, I felt that there are a lot of things taught to me that I guess not really being taught in other universities that offers the same course.
To conclude, let me say this :
I was challenged, I accepted it and I pulled it off :)
PS. (for some) Please don't imitate. Thanks.
